Papal Visit Announced
By bryan on Nov 15, 2007 in Pope Benedict
A few days ago, it was announced that Pope Benedict XVI will be coming to the U.S. for a visit in April 2008. He will be visiting Washington D.C. and NYC. Several masses are planned and a visit to “Ground Zero.” (Zenit Article)
Living in St. Louis, I can remember JPII’s visit here about 10 years ago. It was really neat to see the excitement throughout the city. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend any of the events, but the press coverage was amazing.
JPII celebrated a youth mass at the TWA Dome (now the Edward Jones Dome), where the STL Rams (congrats, BTW, on the 1st win) play. It was great to see so many younger Catholics enthused about their faith.
BXVI will be meeting with President Bush. Wouldn’t you just love to be a fly on the wall in that room? I am sure the subject of the war will come up. Bush will assure the Pope that he has done the right things. The Pope will urge him to bring an end to it. They will smile and pose for the cameras.
Anyway, I am just happy that the Holy Father will be paying a visit to the States. I wonder how many of those masses will be celebrated in Extraordinary form…hmmmm.
